Adsorption for industrial waste water

Adsorption is a waste water treatment technique for removing a wide range of compounds from industrial waste water. Adsorption is most commonly used for the removal of low concentrations of non-degradable organic compounds in groundwater, drinking water preparation, process water or as tertiary purification after, for example, biological water purification.

Activated carbon filter as adsorbent

Adsorption occurs when molecules in a fluid attach to the surface of a solid. Adsorbents have a very high internal surface where adsorption can take place. Activated carbon is by far the most used as an adsorbent and is particularly suitable for the removal of non-polar compounds.

Advantages of an active carbon filter

Activated carbon adsorption is a proven and widely used technique because of the low energy and maintenance costs and its simplicity and reliability. An activated carbon column requires limited supervision and maintenance. To avoid clogging the filter, the suspended matter content in the influent must be limited and preferably not higher than 1 mg / L. Therefore, a pre-filtration may have to take place first.

Eco-Vision offers both fixed and mobile carbon filters integrated in water treatment or water treatment installations. The solid carbon filters must be cleaned on site, the mobile ones exchanged for the reserve column that is filled with new activated carbon.
