Storage and Prevention in Industrial Water Treatment
Safety first, sustainability to the fore
In the world of industrial water treatment, we often think of filtration, purification and reuse of water. But what is often underplayed – and yet essential – are storage and prevention. Because without safe chemical storage and smart preventive measures, a small leak can grow into a big problem. Think environmental disasters, fines or even damage to your entire plant. So it’s high time to take a closer look at this.
Why storage and prevention are essential
Water treatment requires chemical products: acids, bases, oxidising agents and other substances. If these are not stored correctly, they pose a risk to people, machinery and the environment. That is why safe storage solutions and prevention systems are not a luxury but a necessity.
What do we mean by ‘storage’ in water treatment?
In this context it concerns the storage of liquids and chemicals used in the treatment of process or wastewater. Think of neutralising agents, coagulants or cleaning chemicals. These substances are often stored in IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers), tanks or drums – and that is where the challenge lies: how do we ensure that nothing goes wrong?
Types of storage systems for industrial applications
Eco-Vision designs and builds safe chemical storage solutions with integration of detection, dosing technology and compatibility. Chemical products are indispensable in many water treatment processes but require safe storage and handling. Storage can be stand-alone or integrated in a container or technical room. We ensure CE-compliant installation and full support.
IBC bunds and containment pallets
These are placed under IBCs to collect leaks. They are usually made of chemically resistant plastic and are available as single or double units.
Double-walled tanks and reservoirs
For larger volumes, double-walled tanks are ideal. They have an extra safety wall that detects and collects leaks.
Decentralised treatment
on your own site
For temporary installations or flexible applications, mobile spill units are useful. Consider a mobile drip tray or modular collection pallets.
Our solutions include:
Double-walled storage tanks (HDPE, PP, stainless steel, GRP)
Leak detection and level control
Automatic refill and dosing
Systems compatibility with Safe IBC
What do we
mean by prevention?
Prevention is everything you do to stop an incident before it happens. In water treatment this means: avoiding leaks, preventing flooding and minimising errors. Prevention starts at the design stage and never ends – it is a continuous process.
Leak detection systems
Sensors in containment trays or pipelines detect when a liquid is outside the desired zone. Ideal for critical applications.
Overfill protection
An overfull tank can cause problems. Automatic shut-off valves and alarms prevent reservoirs from overflowing.
Spill kits and emergency provisions
Good prevention also takes the worst into account.
With emergency kits – absorbent materials, shut-off devices, protective equipment – you limit the damage in an incident.
Legislation on storage and prevention
In Belgium and the EU there are strict rules for the storage of hazardous substances. Think of
How Eco-Vision tackles this
At Eco-Vision we do not think in terms of products but in terms of solutions. Safe IBC is a good example of this: a total solution for safe storage with containment, detection and practical integration. We look at your situation, align everything with your processes and provide a safe, compliant and sustainable solution. From design to maintenance.
Conclusion
Storage and prevention are indispensable links in industrial water treatment. They form the basis for a safe working environment and sustainable business operations. By investing in the right systems and processes you avoid problems and demonstrate your commitment to people and the environment. Because let us be honest: what is more sustainable than preventing something before it goes wrong?
